Meaningful Learning Theory

The 4th reporter discussed about the meaningful learning theory and the condition of learning. In meaningful learning theory is the concerned with how students learn large amounts of meaningful material from verbal/textual presentations in a school setting. Meaningful learning results when new information is acquired by linking the new information in the learner's own cognitive structure. Ausubel believed that children have a natural tendency to organize information into a meaningful whole. Children should first learn a general concept and then move toward specifics. In condition of learning it refers to the internal state or condition that influences behavior and gives direction in relation to physical conditions, interest, attitudes and aspiration. He also discussed the two components of motivation the needs and drive. He also discussed the five conditions that cause forgetting it was the disuse, inference, retroactive or proactive inhibition, reorganization, motivated forgetting. He also tackles the theories of transfer and the principles of motivation as applied in classroom teaching.

Information Processing

Last week we discussed about Information Processing Theory there are three major components of information processing the Sensory registers, Short-term or working memory and Long-term memory.
Short-term memory holds the limited amount of information paid attention to while the long-term memory keeps information for long period of time and integrates it through rehearsal. We also tackle the nine basic concepts in cognitive theories of learning the Perception, Storage, Encoding, Rehearsal, Dual-coding, Episodic memory, Semantic memory and the Procedure memory. Information processing theory also applied in classroom teaching which gives us the idea on how we implememt the teaching strategies.
There are seven types of learning according to level of skills the signal learning, stimulus response learning, motor chains learning, discriminating learning, concept learning, role learning and the problem solving..

LEARNING THEORY

I learned from the topic of Miss Maria Hazel M. Navarro how to weaken the Behavior of your students? How to reinforce them? How to give punishment? So if you are a teacher you need to control your temper, you need to be patience all the time. In terms of reinforcing your students you need to use the negative and the positive it depends to the behavior of your students.

If you are a teacher you need to give some punishment to weaken the behavior which is unpleasant to you and to others. Purpose of it, is to enlighten them to be in a good disposition in life.

LEARNING

In learning we discuss that learning defined as modification of behavior through experiences. In this lesson we also tackle the two theories of learning the Behavioral Theory and Organismic and Gesalt and field theory. In Behaviorist theory it means that an individual transfers what he has learned from one situation to another situation only if two are still similar in contend and procedures. While in Organismic theory man learns only through his own responses.

Learning involves helping people along the learning process, and learning includes all of the things that we do to make it happen. As an end result, we know that learning occurs when people take new found information and incorporate it into their life. For example, if we are working with an audience that lacks basic financial management skills for budgeting, one of our objectives is to see people gain knowledge in this area and to actually implement the new skills – hopefully, over a long period of time.
