Meaningful Learning Theory

The 4th reporter discussed about the meaningful learning theory and the condition of learning. In meaningful learning theory is the concerned with how students learn large amounts of meaningful material from verbal/textual presentations in a school setting. Meaningful learning results when new information is acquired by linking the new information in the learner's own cognitive structure. Ausubel believed that children have a natural tendency to organize information into a meaningful whole. Children should first learn a general concept and then move toward specifics. In condition of learning it refers to the internal state or condition that influences behavior and gives direction in relation to physical conditions, interest, attitudes and aspiration. He also discussed the two components of motivation the needs and drive. He also discussed the five conditions that cause forgetting it was the disuse, inference, retroactive or proactive inhibition, reorganization, motivated forgetting. He also tackles the theories of transfer and the principles of motivation as applied in classroom teaching.
